How can laser hair removal help you with your ingrown hair problem?

If you regularly suffer from ingrowns due to ineffective hair removal methods such as shaving, plucking, waxing or depilatory creams, laser hair removal is the best option you have to (a) once and for all get rid of your ingrowns, and (2) permanetntly reduce your unwanted hair.  An ingrown hair is where a hair grows under the skin’s surface.  The beam emitted by the laser destroys the hair follicles, disabling further hair growth. How to avoid ingrown hairs?

Ingrowns are caused by certain hair removal methods which break the hair off in a sharp manner such as shaving or waxing, causing the hair breaking under the surface of the skin, which causes the painful ingrowns. If you are unable to afford laser hair removal treatments, you can try to reduce the amount of ingrowns by exfoliating the area regularly, which will aid the hair in pushing through the layer of the skin, as opposed to underneath the skin’s surface.

Why do men get ingrowns, more so than women?

Male hair is thick and coarse, so it breaks of much easier from methods such as shaving or waxing. Women’s hair is generally softer hair (though not in the bikini area, this is why women tend to get ingrowns in the private regions as opposed to other body parts).

How do I prevent ingrowns?

The best way, honestly, is by getting laser hair remvoal treatments performed on the areas you no longer wish to have unwanted hair on.

How many ingrown hair remvoal treatments will I need?

You will need approximately 12 treatments spaced out over 4 to 6 weeks. It is a common misconception and unethical practice in the laser hair removal industry to sell potential clients the common fallacy that they would only require 4 to 6 treatments. If you’re told this, ask for their guarantee policies, if the laser establishment requires touch up fees, run to the nearest exit! You will not need to wait for regrowth of hair to come in for laser treatments.

Does Bay Harbour Med Spa ™  give a guarantee on laser treatments?

Yes, absolutely! However, the policy on a life-time guarantee is this: we will provide you with as many additional touch ups if necessary (usually there’s no necessity, but some women experience hormonal issues which may cause some fine hair regrowth), as long as you’ve had the required 12 treatments, and came in for each treatment at a pre-determined schedule of either 4 t0 6 week intervals.

Is there pre and  post-treatment care I need to follow?

Yes! It’s important that you NOT pluck, tweeze, use depilatories or wax any regrowth following your laser treatments. You may continue to shave the areas of treatment, but, never, ever use the other methods mentioned, because the follicles must be destroyed at their roots, if you use the above methods you, the laser beam won’t have a root to weaken the hair follicle. When coming in for your initial treatment, all you need to do is shave the area you’re having treated. We do not have to see hair presence.

I have blonde hair, am I a candidate for laser hair removal?

Unfortunately, no you’re not. Do not fall for the gimmick that laser works for all hair colors. In order for any laser technology to work, there has to be pigment (color) to the hair. There is no laser technology out there that will permanently reduce your unwanted hair if you have light, white or blonde hair.
