So, just what is an Ultrasonic Facial?

This skin treatment ( Bay Harbour Med Spa’s deluxe treatment) utilizes mild electrical current which is a technique to restore the cell’s natural electric charge. A device is lightly stroked over the face, neck and decortege, creating a slight pulsing sensation. When a cell has been damaged due to overexposure to environmental hazards such as the ultra violet rays, the cell’s electrical current is adversely affected, restricting the nutrients to flow into the cell as well as the excretion of waste products out of the cell. Bay Harbour Med Spa’s deluxe treatment, the Ultrasonic Skin Treatment, helps to normalize the electric current within the cells, promoting healing and the regeneration of new skin cells.

Bay Harbour Med Spa’s Deluxe Treatment- the Ultrasonic Skin Treatment, is gentle, non-invasive, safe and suitable for all skin types, from acne to rosacea, to mature skin presenting with deep lines. It is also a beneficial treatment for sensitive skin, because it does not cause any erythema (redness); if any erythema is present, it diminishes very soon after the treatment.
How does Bay Harbour Med Spa’s Deluxe Treatment, the Ultrasonic Face Treatment, work? The treatment works in phases:
Phase I: The Peeling via our Microdermabrasion machine:

The Crystal Microdermabrasion treatment removes about 50% of the ‘stratum corneum’- the skin’s most outer and most exposed layer, and the permeability barrier between the internal milieu and hostile environmental assault. Because it is exposed externally, the skin provides protection and acts as a barrier to the outside environment in order to maintain internal homeostasis. First, the skin is abraded, than a hand instrument is utilized, gently yet deliberately being stroked against the skin, a conducting gel provides a barrier between the skin and the hand instrument. Ultrasonic vibrations spin the water molecule, gently removing dead surface skin cells by use of the mechanical methods.
Second phase:
This is the Ultrasonic treatment’s best feature. Under normal circumstances, large molecules cannot penetrate the skin to provide the deep penetration of whatever vitamin extracts are being used on the skin. The beauty of this treatment is that the ultrasound makes that penetration possible- the process is called ‘sonophoresis.’ Typically, we utilize and antioxidant product which is penetrated into the skin in this phase to provide deep environmental healing and protection. Other products (please see our list of organic components for more information on all of the products/extracts we use in our treatments), always organic and the purest in concentration, usually in serum form, are applied liberally on the skin. The hand instrument is lightly stroked over the skin. The ultrasound frequency opens pathways to allow the product (depending on what your skin requires) to penetrate deeply into your skin, for better, more long-lasting results.
So, now that you know how the treatment works, what will it actually do for you? Well, simply put, several things:
1. Exfoliate dead skin cells for a clearer, healthier complexion without the redness and irritation sometimes associated with harsh laser treatments. The loosening and removing oil, excess debris (whether environmental or biologically derived). This causes the skin to become cleaner and healthier. Additionally, the skin’s pores will diminish in size.
2. The production of collagen and elastin causing fine lines and wrinkles to diminish, restoring the skin’s smoothness and youthful glow.
3. Aids in penetration of serums or highly concentrated organic vitamin extracts to effectively penetrate deep within the skin layers.
