What is Microdermabrasion and what are it’s affects on the skin?
The skin is the largest organ in the skin. It serves many important functions including protecting the body from infections and regulating body temperature. Despite its resiliency, skin can be damaged by hormonal changes, exposure to environmental elements and aging. If the appearance of your skin has been affected because of these factors than a procedure called microdermabrasion may help.
How does Bay Harbour Med Spa’s signature Crystal Microdermabrasion ™ work?
During the microdermabrasion sessions which generally last for about an hour and a half ( and should encompass the face, neck and decolte) a jet of very fine crystals is emitted across the surface of the skin which removes impurities and imperfections. It feels like light suction or sandblasting. The discarded crystals and skin debris are simultaneously vacuumed into a receptacle and are later disposed. Because Crystal Microdermabrasion allows for controlled removal of the outer most layer of the skin there is little pain involved and the improvement of the skin can be seen immediately. However, several treatments ( usually 10) are necessary to achieve desired results.
